Activities at the national level
I. Development of the Tobacco free city and Tobacco free work place
- Mongolian Chapter of AFHC in collaboration with Ministry of Health and National Public Health center and WHO country office launched press conference “Revolution smoke free/Breathing change into workplace” in Blue sky complex on 25 October, 2018. The press conference aimed to inform and increase awareness of “Revolution Smoke free” mass media campaign and implementing 100% smoke free workplace policy in targeted 10 city and Chingeltei district of Ulaanbaatar and Terminal power station-4.
- We were organized “Tobacco free policy strategy” lobby workshop among 11 cities’ governors with responsible officials including Chingeltei district and TPS-4 managerial delegations on 25, 26 October 2018. 11 cities included Darkhan, Erdenet, Bayankhongor, Arvaikheer, Choibalsan, Sainshand, Choir, Chinggis, Murun, Sukhbaatar cities and Chingeltei district. Within the scope of the workshop, we conducted training on healthy workplace policy, second hand tobacco effects on health, implementation of tobacco control good policy and smoke free workplace policy, strategy.
- 11 city and district governors joined and signed in “Tobacco Free city declaration” of Mongolian cities.
- Our team developed 30 pages handbook for public and decision makers named “Join revolution .Choose change” including 14 kind of printed materials such as fact sheet, brochure, info graphic 3 kind of posters, banner stand and distributed 2000 handbook the 11 cities and 1 district and Termil Power station via participants of workshop.
- We organized 11 complex trainings in the 11 cities and district between Nov 2018 and Feb 2019 and made pre and post campaign surveys of Tobacco free city evaluation. Our team developed 2 pages with 9 questions survey for employees of target entities “100% tobacco free policy in workplaces”. During the campaign we conducted about 4680 respondents of 628 governmental and nongovernmental organizations of targeted cities and districts. In the process of monitoring and evaluation process “Tobacco free revolution” mass media campaign outreached about 350 governmental and nongovernmental organizations and business companies off all targeted cities and district.
- At the same time, we organized the advertising campaign among target cities and work places. All mass media campaign activities such as press conference, Tobacco free policy implementation workshop activities delivered timely by informing TV news on Mongolian national radio and television, Eagle TV, TV9. ETV, UBS TV. “Tobacco free revolution-Breathing change in workplace” TV spot, info graphic posters outreached to the public by sharing and seeing visitors on Web site, Facebook Twitter and other social sites.
II.Urban health evaluation of Mongolian cities
Mongolian Chapter of AFHC with support of WHO Regional office and Ministry of Health of Mongolia made evaluation of the National program of Urbanization and Health and Urban Heart assessment according to WHO guideline from March to July 2019.
Evaluation conducted five domain actions including 1: Governance and coordination infrastructure, 2: Programme planning, management and quality improvement, 3: Information and surveillance system, 4: Workforce and network capacities & 5: Health system roles and functions. The evaluation surveys were covered 5 districts of Ulaanbaatar city including Bayangol, Bayanzurkh, Sukhbaatar, Chingeltei district , Nalaikh and 8 cities including Bayankhongor, Altai, Darkhan, Sainshand, Erdenet, Sukhbaatar, Murun, and Chinggis.
III. Training of Behavioral changes to promote health
The Ministry of Health of Mongolia, WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, the National Centre for Public Health, and the Mongolian Chapter of AFHC jointly organized the training in order to provide information related to behavioral changes to promote health and the WHO guidelines and strategy, it held on the 10-12th of June 2019 in Ulaanbaatar. The training was organized for governors, health department heads, staff of urban health of 10 member cities of Healthy City Network and Ulaanbaatar city. The training has been successfully implemented within WHO support and technical assistance.
IV. City level trainings
With Mandalgobi city government, our team organized the Healthy City training on the topic of Healthy city management and city public service and exchange experiences of Ulaanbaatar city among Mandalgobi city officials in March 2019.
V. Community construction training.
With National Cheng Kung University, our Network organized the training on the community construction among governors and staffs of cities in Choir city in September 2019.

Activities at the international level
- In the frame of our Chapter cooperation, Healthy City Support Organization (HCSO) delegation such as Dr Chiba Mitsuyuki and Mr Inagaki Tomikzau and other professional people of oral health care visited at Chingeltei district of Ulaanbaatar city in August 2019. We organized the child oral health promotion training among school, nursery school doctors, family health center, district health center doctors of Chingeltei district. HCSO delegation make field work of the possibility to organize the Healthy school or oral health promotion project in Ulaanbaatar.
- With cooperation of National Cheng Kung University, we carried out the community construction project on the creation of children playground using waste construction materials in Sep 2019.
- Mongolian Chapter of AFHC organized three times international exchange experience activities with TDBB in Istanbul and Konya cities in April and August 2019, with Nur-Sultan city hall in Nur-Sultan city in August 2019, and sent Mongolian Healthy cities delegation to international trainings of CITYNET in Japan, TDBB in Turkey, and the Urban lighting association in Seoul in 2019. Therefore, Mongolian delegation visited at Korean Healthy Cities with support of WHO Regional office.
